Toyota’s next-generation Tacoma is coming, and it is due to get an electric powertrain. The new 2024 Toyota Tacoma EV, judging from the first official photos, looks attractive and it will reportedly go on sale next year.
From what we know, the manufacturer will take the same route as Ford did with its F-150 Lightning full-size electric truck. This means that the Tacoma EV will ride on powertrain-specific underpinnings, which is different than its gas-swilling sibling. To stay competitive, expect the new Tacoma EV to offer at least 200 miles of driving range, and a towing capacity that’s equal to its gas-powered brethren
2024 Toyota Tacoma EV First Look
In terms of appearance, the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma EV looks more attractive than any other trim available, including TRD Pro. Judging by the new photos, the forthcoming truck will come with improved aerodynamics, a closed-off grille, and distinct wheels.
We also noticed that the new truck is wearing a pearl white color and more black accents than any model before. Besides the base model, we’re also expecting to see a TRD Off-Road variant, as well as a Limited.
Interior Details
From the information that we got, the forthcoming 2024 Toyota Tacoma will come exclusively in crew cab, four-door form. However, considering that it will probably ride on the same platform as its bigger sibling, the Tundra, we’re expecting more room inside. So, it will likely seat up to five passengers comfortably. On the other hand, the technology will be updated, and we expect to see a larger infotainment screen and plenty of standard equipment.

Unfortunately, Toyota didn’t reveal any information regarding the specs of the electric variant. Anyway, we expect the upcoming truck to use the new platform that will be able to carry large batteries. The Tacoma EV will probably use two electric motors that should result in four-wheel drive.
We are generally expecting the base model to drain power from a battery that should provide at least 200 miles of range on a single charge. As for towing capacity, it will be more than likely equal to or exceed that compared to a gas-powered model. The minimum towing capacity of the current Tacoma is 3500 lbs. while adding the towing package can expand it to 6400 lbs.
2024 Toyota Tacoma EV Price, Release Date
When it goes on sale, the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma EV will probably cost significantly more than the gas-powered variant. The current Tacoma starts at $26,500 for the basic model, while the range-topping TRD Pro that comes with all-wheel drive and double cab is priced at $46k. In general, we’re expecting the EV model to cost around $50,000.
As we said, the new Tacoma EV is expected to debut sometime next year, probably before summertime. Its main rival should be the F-150 Lightning.
