The new Kia Sportage SUV was revealed last month, and we heard lots of rumors that the manufacturer is also working on the pickup truck variant. Interestingly, some new renderings of the 2023 Kia Sportage Pickup Truck have come out, and it looks almost the same as the SUV.
The new model is wearing the same design language at the front, including the attractive grille and headlights, while at the back it has a short bed. If you didn’t know, the Kia Sportage rides on the new N3 platform that underpins the Hyundai Tucson and Santa Cruz. The rendered compact-sized sport adventure vehicle would obviously help the South Korean company to break through the mid-sized pickup truck market.
2023 Kia Sportage Pickup Truck Exterior
At first glance, the rendered 2023 Kia Sportage Pickup Truck looks identical to the SUV version. It dominates at the front with an attractive grille, bumper, air intake, skidplate, and boomerang-shaped headlights.
We also noticed a new protective plastic on the doors and the same wheels as on the SUV. Unlike the SUV model, the pickup truck on the back has a short bed, redesigned taillights and the new exhaust. The manufacturer currently offers alloy wheels on the Kia Sportage that ranges from 17, 18 and 19-inch sizes. Overall, we are hoping that if manufacturer decides to release a pickup model in the future, it will consider these renderings.
At this moment, there are no renderings inside the 2023 Kia Sportage pickup. Many believe that the pickup truck if released will be no less handsome inside than the SUV variant. The current generation SUV comes with a supportive and comfortable seat, with plenty of room to stretch out.
Obviously, the headroom of the pickup truck will probably take a hit because of the bed. The SUV variant also includes many features. It offers an 8-inch touch screen, air conditioning (with rear vents), a black headliner and Leatherette seat trim, heated steering wheel, and a great audio stereo system.
2023 Kia Sportage Pickup Truck Engine
Considering that this model is not yet official, there is no word about its engine. In general, we expect this model, if it happens, to use the same powertrains as the SUV model. That means the standard model will use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder that’s good for 181 horsepower.
Besides, there is also an optional 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine producing impressive 240 horsepower. The SUV variant uses a 6-speed automatic as the only transmission, and there’s front or all-wheel drive to choose from. However, unlike the Sportage SUV, which is rated to tow up to 2,000 pounds, the pickup will probably carry more.
Release Date, Price Expectation
The 2023 Kia Sportage Pickup Truck is not yet officially confirmed, so we are not quite sure if it would be ever produced. From many rumors and speculations, this pickup truck if it happens will boost sales of Kia for sure. In general, after the great models we saw from this company, there is a huge chance that Kia will try to break through to the mid-size pickup market.
