The all-new 2023 GMC Sierra EV has been officially confirmed, and we got some information about the upcoming truck. GMC has recently revealed the front end of its electric pickup truck, and it looks very shiny. Based on some rumors, the new EV truck will likely be mechanically identical to the upcoming Silverado EV.
As far as we know, the GMC Hummer EV is also closely related to the Chevy Silverado EV. Basically, both models, as well as the upcoming Sierra EV, will use GM’s latest Ultium battery packs that should provide up to 400 miles of range. GMC will reveal this truck sometime in the year, and it could be built in Michigan. Electric pickups are likely to be the biggest automotive story this year, considering how many models are coming.
2023 GMC Sierra EV Design
GMC has revealed a teased photo of its upcoming electric pickup truck, and we must admit it looks very attractive. We first noticed that the front end looks shinier compared to the original model.
Also, the new truck features a popular blocked-off grille and a futuristic lighting setup. In our opinion, the electric version is likely to be far more futuristic than the gas-powered Sierra. Anyway, the Sierra EV will also ride on the new platform that should handle the latest GM’s Ultium battery packs.
What We Know About Its interior?
As far as we know, the new 2023 GMC Sierra EV will be much more modern than the non-EV model. We’re expecting this truck to come with the same seating arrangement, featuring more supportive seats. GM is yet to release all the details on the Sierra EV, but we can surely look forward to the same 11-inch reconfigurable digital instrument cluster that we saw on the Chevy Silverado EV.
Other features that we’re also expecting are wireless charging support, Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving, and usual smartphone connectivity.
2023 GMC Sierra EV Motor Setup
Right now, we don’t have any information regarding the motor setup on the 2023 GMC Sierra EV. Based on many reports, the forthcoming truck will like the Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV use the same GM’s Ultium battery packs. That means we can expect the Sierra EV model to provide up to 400 miles of range.
The actual Hummer EV uses a 2-motor or a 3-motor setup, with a range up to 350 miles. It also included an 800-volt 350-kilowatt DC fast charging capability, which should allow 100-mile range from only 10 minutes of charge.
When Can We Expect the 2023 GMC Sierra EV?
Based on rumors, GMC will reveal its full-electric pickup sometime this year, while sales should start soon after. We also got information the 2023 GMC Sierra EV will use the same GM’s Ultium battery pack as the Hummer EV model and the Chevrolet Silverado EV.
So, expect the forthcoming Sierra EV to cost at least $55,000 for the model with two motors. From information that we got, the all-electric truck could be built in the same Factory Zero plant in Michigan alongside the Hummer and Silverado models.
