After the great success with the AT4 Sierra model, the manufacturer will launch later this year a more off-road capable variant 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X. Unlike the AT4 version, the AT4X truck will be more aggressive and mechanically identical to the Chevy Silverado ZR2.
It should deploy a mighty V8 engine that’s paired with a ten-speed transmission. Besides, the interior of the AT4X is also more luxurious and matches the well-known Denali trim level. Inside, you can find soft leather upholstery, a big touchscreen option, and enhanced safety amenities.
2023 GMC Sierra AT4X Exterior
On the cosmetic front, the upcoming 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X looks way better than the AT4 variant. Of course, it looks also more appealing than the ordinary model thanks to various modifications. It comes with a huge grille, eye-catching LED headlights, and very attractive black 18-inch wheels.
For the best experience in off-roading, the manufacturer added rock protectors and all-new dampers. The same dampers are also seen on the Colorado ZR2 and Silverado ZR2 models as well. Overall, the design of the AT4X is robust as you can see, and it is more attractive than the AT4 model. We also expect the full list of features to be revealed in coming months.
First Look Inside
The cabin of the new GMC Sierra AT4X is modern and comfortable. The new trim level will share many elements and features with the popular Denali trim. This means we can expect the same “Obsidian Rush” interior décor and leather upholstery with red contrast stitching. Inside, buyers will get a standard 15-inch touchscreen and a fantastic Bose sound system.
If this is not enough for you, the manufacturer will also introduce later this year a new Denali Ultimate trim. This range-topping trim level will offer sumptuous leather, accented by nice ash wood trims, and comfortable 16-way power-adjustable and massaging front seats.

2023 GMC Sierra AT4X Engine Specs
As we mentioned before, the forthcoming 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X is an off-road pickup that’s based on the Chevy Silverado ZR2. Interestingly, it uses the same mechanics and a 6.2-liter V8 petrol engine that generates 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Like the ZR2 model, the manufacturer used the same smooth 10-speed transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The highlight is definitively a payload capacity of 1,430 pounds, while the trailering capability is 9,000 pounds. This is mainly achieved thanks to a unique chassis and enhanced suspension. As you can see, the AT4X is one of the most capable off-roaders in the segment.
