General Motors is working on the new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4, which was spotted for the first time a few weeks ago cruising around metro Detroit. Unlike the regular Canyon model, the AT4 will introduce several new features including better off-road equipment.
The recently spied prototype is wearing new styling, with aggressive aesthetic punctuated and pumped-up fenders. In order to keep up with other rivals, the manufacturer will also make some changes inside compared to the original one, and we can expect more sporty styling followed with many new technologies. However, as the regular model, the new AT4 will ride on the GM 31XX-2 platform, which is an updated version of the GMT-31XX frame architecture.
2023 GMC Canyon AT4 Exterior Design
Outside, the recently spied 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 prototype looks more attractive than any other Canyon model except AT4X and Denali models. As far as we can see, the upcoming truck will introduce new styling and more aggressive aesthetics. However, in order to maximize clearance, the manufacturer didn’t equip the prototype with running boards, unlike the chrome running we saw on the Denali model.
Interestingly, the forthcoming AT4 will only come with running boards as an option. We also spot that it wears a more-aggressive grille and new LED lighting elements with vertically oriented lighting signatures. The black six-spoke wheels come standard with Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT tires.
Interior Features
The interior of the new 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 is rugged and refined compared to the original one. Basically, it’s more driver-focused offering a durable and spacious cabin. In addition, Canyon models are available as Crew Cab featuring comfortable seating for five. The interior is really quiet thanks to many innovations like triple door seals, shear-style body mounts, and liquid-applied sound deadener.
On top of that, the AT4 comes with unique leather-appointed front seats, attractive embroidered front head restraints, and Jet Black/Kalahari colors. It’s also available with many technology and safety features to help you stay confident and connected during every adventure. With this model, you will get a 8 inch diagonal GMC infotainment system with navigation, wireless smartphone charging, rear vision camera, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and so on.
2023 GMC Canyon AT4 Powertrain Specs
As for the goodies under the skin, the forthcoming 2023 GMC Canyon AT4 will ride on the 31XX-2 platform. This model will reportedly use the same powerplant as the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevy Silverado 1500. That means we can expect the proven turbocharged 2.7-liter gasoline engine, rated at 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. The engine should also come with a 10-speed automatic.
Besides, the GMC as an option offers a 3.6L V6 LGZ gasoline engine, and the 2.5L I4 LCV gasoline engine. Unfortunately, the 2.8L I4 LWN turbodiesel Duramax is no longer available due to emission police.
2023 GMC Canyon AT4 Release Date, Price
The new GMC Canyon AT4 will join the lineup of trucks later this year. Alongside this truck, the manufacture will also introduce an even more off-road capable Canyon AT4X model.
This truck will arrive as a GMC equivalent to the Chevy Colorado ZR2, featuring a great off-road package. The Canyon AT4 will cost less than $40,000, which is great value for money.
