The upcoming 2022 Ford Ranger is a midsize pickup truck that will receive some small modifications. This model is one of the best in the market, offering a beautiful and compact design. Long story short, Ranger has a rich history and is one of Blue Oval’s best selling models, after F-150.

As before, it comes in two cab sizes, and two-bed lengths with limited configurations. Also, the new Tremor Off-Road package is available as well, and is specialized with a new Fox suspension, Continental General Grabber all-terrain tires, and a 6-switch auxiliary power bank for winches.

The cabin of the 2022 Ford Ranger is staunchly modern. This pickup truck comes with the same layout allowing enough room for four or five people. Like before, the Ranger is available in trims levels XL, XLT, and Lariat. The most basic form includes many features like the audio system with a 4-speaker AM/FM, automatic climate control, and a great infotainment system.

However, the optional STX package adds some nicer materials and a more responsive 8-inch infotainment touchscreen. All trims are available with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration. However, Lariat is the most expensive and it offers leather upholstery, heated/power-adjustable front seats, push-button start, and many goodies.

Like the current model, the new 2022 Ford Ranger will most likely use the same engine. That means we could once again see the same turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates a healthy 270 horsepower. Thanks to this engine, the Ford Ranger fuel economy is near best-in-class. This truck delivers EPA city/highway fuel economy of 21/26 mpg (RWD), 20/24 mpg (AWD). As you can see, it’s available with RWD as standard, while AWD is optional.

Plug-In Hybrid Rumor

According to the publication, the new model will also get a brand new plug-in hybrid powertrain. From information that we got, it will use a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine mated to a electric motor for a combined output of 362 horsepower (270 kilowatts) and 502 pound-feet (680 Newton-meters) of torque. Interestly, this engine will be mated to a new 10 speed automatic transmission.

How Much Does the 2022 Ford Ranger Cost?

The 2022 Ford Ranger entry-level XL SuperCab has an (MSRP) of $24,820, while XLT that is mid-trim costs around $4,000 more. However, Ranger Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 can exceed the price of $46,000. According to Blue Oval, all models will be available to purchase sometime next year. Compared to trucks in the same segment, the Ranger’s starting price ranges as the Toyota Tacoma, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and the redesigned Nissan Frontier.
