The all-new 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz is making a comeback later this year. This pickup truck should be based on one of the company’s latest concept, according to various reports. Reviving nameplates has become a very popular move and Hyundai is no different. Santa Cruz should provide an attractive look, reliable performance, and upscale interior design.
Exterior design should look similar to the Hyundai Palisade model and the interior will provide a room for five persons. Hyundai will most likely deliver at least three trim levels and more than solid interior equipment. The cabin should look clean and we can expect numerous high-tech amenities as well. Under the bonnet, Santa Cruz will offer both gasoline and diesel powertrain options.
2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz Design
The forthcoming 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz will look brand-new. This pickup truck will wear Hyundai’s latest design language. Styling-wise, this model will be similar to the Palisade SUV. Both models are based on the same concept so it makes perfect sense. On the other hand, Santa Cruz will borrow the architecture from Santa Fe. Santa Cruz won’t look as boxy as most of the models in the segment.
Instead, it will feature a modern appearance with an angular approach and sporty stance. Expect a lot of clean details that are more SUV-like than the classic pickup’s rugged look. Hyundai will probably offer both two-door and four-door variants and at least three trim levels. We don’t know exact body configurations but we shouldn’t wait for much longer to find out more about this model.
Cabin Is Based on the Santa Fe SUV
Once again, the concept will have a great impact on the interior of the 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz. However, its cabin will be based on the Santa Fe model. You should expect a simple interior layout and Santa Cruz will be a very practical model. Dashboard design and the layout of the buttons won’t depart from Santa Fe at all. On the other hand, pickup will deliver larger storage bins.
The new infotainment display is a possibility for this model, along with the optional ambient lighting. There will be room for five passengers and upper trim levels will provide a real luxury. Moreover, wood accents, leather upholstery, and the larger touchscreen will be standard on the range-topping trim level. Still, most of the interior design is still a mystery.
2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz Engine Specs
It will be interesting to see which engine will power the 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz. South Korean manufacturer plans to sell it globally so various powertrain options are a must. However, diesel engine won’t be available in the first year of production. Still, a 2.0-liter turbo-four diesel is still a rumor for 2021. This unit will be optional in some markets. Moreover, a 3.3-liter V6 is standard and it will produce 295 hp and 255 lb-ft of torque. A reliable V6 engine is also available in the Santa Fe model.
As for the speculated diesel, a 2.0-liter engine with 195 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque will become available in Asia. We don’t know if Santa Cruz will reach American soil in the near future. It comes with 8-speed automatic transmission that is standard, no matter which engine you opt for.
Price and Release Date
The arrival of the new 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz has been scheduled for the last quarter of the year. Santa Cruz will arrive as a brand-new model and it will cost around $25,000. Hyundai will release more details this summer when Santa Cruz should make a debut.
